What is Skapi? ​

Skapi is serverless backend API for your web application.

Whether you are an AI agent, a web developer, or anyone else who needs a secure and scalable backend, Skapi gives you one with no servers to deploy or manage: authentication, a database, file storage, and email are all included.

Everything you build lives in a Project. A project is the complete backend for one application, and your frontend connects to it in a single line of code.

Creating a Project ​

  1. Sign up for an account at skapi.com.
  2. Log in, Name your project and choose a region. Hit Create.

For BunnyQuery users

BunnyQuery projects are fully compatible with Skapi. Each project shows up in both your BunnyQuery and Skapi project lists.

Project Settings ​

You can set additional settings for your project.

Only the project owner changes them

Project settings belong to the project owner's Skapi account, the account that created the project, and to Skapi staff when you ask Skapi for help. An admin of your project, access group 99 included, is refused with INVALID_REQUEST and Only the project owner can change project settings.

  • Name: The project name used to identify your project on the My Projects page.

  • CORS: Configure CORS to allow requests from specific domains. If left empty, CORS defaults to *. To restrict access, set one or more domains, for example, https://example.com or https://example.com, https://example2.com. Requests from domains not listed in CORS will be blocked. In production, set CORS to specific domains to help prevent unauthorized access to your project.

  • Allow Signup: You can prevent user signups by turning off this option. This setting prevents new signups and account deletion in your project. When this option is off, only admins can create or disable user accounts from the Users page. This is useful for private projects with a limited user group.

  • Allow Inquiries: You can allow anonymous users to send inquiries to your project via sendInquiry(). When users send an inquiry, it is forwarded to your email. Turn this option off if you want to reduce spam.

  • Freeze Database: You can freeze your database to prevent write operations. When the database is frozen, write operations from every user below access group 90 are blocked and only read operations are allowed. Admins (access groups 90 ~ 99) and the project owner still write as usual. See Admin Permissions.

  • Allow Anonymous Posts to Database: You can allow anonymous users (users who are not logged in) to post public records to the database. Use caution when enabling this option, as it may increase the risk of malicious submissions. Make sure your app includes defensive validation when handling anonymous records.

  • Enable/Disable: You can temporarily disable your project. This is useful during maintenance when you need to block access without losing data. When your project is disabled, all requests are blocked, and it appears as disabled on the My Projects page.

WARNING

Disabling your project will not pause your subscription. You will still be charged for the project even when it is disabled.

Deleting Your Project ​

You can delete your project only under these conditions:

  • your subscription has expired, or
  • you are on the trial plan.

You can delete your project from the project settings page.

The Delete Project button is located at the bottom of the project settings page.

When you click Delete Project, you will be asked to confirm deletion.

DANGER

When you delete your project, all related data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
